Simple sewing

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day.
I know, I did.
I wanted to share a little something I made to include in with my mother-in-laws gift.
A few posts ago, I shared my dislike for the price of greeting cards.
Since my mother-in-law shares my opinion and most of her family lives out of town, I came up with the following simple project.

It started with a regular ol' placemat.

After a little very simple sewing, embroidery, a snap, purchased note cards and a book of stamps here is what I came up with.....

Note cards and stamps all tucked into their individual pockets...

Fold over...

and snapped closed.

This was THE easiest project and can be made very inexpensively.
The placemat was only a few dollars.
I purchased several packs of blank note cards from Michaels for $1.00 each and divided them up into sets of four so she would have a variety of cards for birthday, thank you, get well, thinking of you etc.
and...
I still have several cards left to use on another project.
The most expensive part of this project was the book of stamps!

This is very cute and small enough to take traveling. Postcards will slip into the pockets and not get bent. Thanks for sharing!

Such a very cute idea! I love using things with finished edges like tea towels and placemats to make things. I just posted my link for Placemat Pillows at Sew Many Ways linky party.

Blessings,
Donna
