I just saved $159.44.

Yesterday I popped into a thrift store near my home and look what I found.

Eight books in perfect condition and they still had all the pattern pieces included for $3.20.

No, not $3.20 each, but a total of $3.20 for all eight!

I added up the original price marked on each book and it came to $162.64.

That's a $159.44 savings!

Whoohoo!

Sunflowers, napkins and coasters.

I've been sorting through my fabric stash and found lots of ...
"Why in the heck did I buy that?" fabric.
Some not so bad, but others..... Geeezzzz, what was I thinking!

Really....What was I thinking????
I had a dress made out of this fabric.... and I wore it !

Anyhow, I think it makes better napkins and coasters, don't you?

I only had enough left for three 20 inch napkins (I like large napkins) and four coasters.
I do have a bit left, but not enough for another napkin - maybe another project.

Without the ribbon tie.

The napkins are hemmed; I quilted the coasters and just pinked the edges.
I usually serge everyday napkins, but I decided to hem these for a nicer look using my favorite little measuring tool.

The Handee Gauge.

The Handee Gauge makes it so much easier and quicker.

If you are new to sewing, these little gauges are inexpensive and (in my opinion) a "must have" to add to your basic sewing notions.

Happy Friday!

Happy Birthday Oakleigh!

Today Miss Oakleigh turned four years old.

Oakleigh fell in love with my daughters Abby Cadabby doll from Santa, so I went on the hunt for one for her birthday. I had no idea Abby Cadabby was so popular!
Five stores and two days later, I finally found an Abby Cadabby - not the exact same one - but close.

Thinking Abby might become Oakleigh's new BFF,  I made a matching shirt for Oakleigh.

I think I came pretty close to matching the flowers on Abby's dress.

Isn't she cute?

Have a great birthday Miss Oakleigh.
Mimi, Papa J and Aunt Polly love you!

New Years resolutions.

I have two New Year's resolutions....

The first is to finish a few unfinished projects.

Like this one.

I started this little summertime wall hanging a couple of years ago.
All it needs is the binding, but for some reason I put it away and never completed it.

********

My second resolution is to try to reduce the amount of fabric stash I currently own - using much of my stash for eco-friendly projects.

Like this one...

My little "green" fabric fold up tote.
I purchase the Kermit design and just added my own words.

Look how easily it folds.

I used small pieces of Velcro to hold it together when it's folded up.

All folded and ready to go.

How am I doing so far?

Cheap, easy and delicious.

Last nights dinner.

All it takes are 3 ingredients.

Roast

Dry onion soup mix and a can of cream of mushroom soup.
(No name brand snob here)

Mix one package of the dry onion soup and a can cream of mushroom together.
Do not add any liquid; the mixture will be thick.
Put your roast in the slow cooker and slather it with the mixture.

Set the slow cooker on low and go sew for 6 to 8 hours!

Talk about delicious... there's even plenty of drippings
to make gravy for your mashed potatoes.

I love to personalize.

Even if it is - just a little dishtowel.

Have a great day!
