Come on down....
There's plenty of room poolside...
see, we have it all to ourselves...
Maybe you prefer a little shade...
Hammock, perhaps?
Or maybe a chaise overlooking the sand and sea...
Hungry?
Eat your lunch under the shade of an umbrella...
Or a picnic table in the sunshine at the waters edge...
Perhaps a little stroll,
dockside...
Or just hang out on our porch rockers....
~ Just to watch the sunset ~
Have you packed your bags yet?

Simple sewing
I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day.
I know, I did.
I wanted to share a little something I made to include in with my mother-in-laws gift.
A few posts ago, I shared my dislike for the price of greeting cards.
Since my mother-in-law shares my opinion and most of her family lives out of town, I came up with the following simple project.
It started with a regular ol' placemat.
After a little very simple sewing, embroidery, a snap, purchased note cards and a book of stamps here is what I came up with.....
Note cards and stamps all tucked into their individual pockets...
Fold over...
and snapped closed.
This was THE easiest project and can be made very inexpensively.
The placemat was only a few dollars.
I purchased several packs of blank note cards from Michaels for $1.00 each and divided them up into sets of four so she would have a variety of cards for birthday, thank you, get well, thinking of you etc.
and...
I still have several cards left to use on another project.
The most expensive part of this project was the book of stamps!

~ Pinkie Swear ~
Have you ever met someone in your life that you cannot imagine having ever lived without?
For me, that would be Debbie, my very best friend of 42 years. It’s hard to put into words what she means to me…. But I will try….. I think I always knew from the first time we met that we would be friends for life. I could tell right away she had all the qualities I wished I had… she was caring, kind, beautiful (both inside and out), witty, smart, a little shy and oh so sweet. It’s true… opposites attract.
She has always been the constant in my life. For the past 30 years we have lived with 1,868 miles between us, yet I know she is always there.
Aristotle once said............What is a friend? A single soul dwelling in two bodies.
I believe that to be true….
Yes, we will always be best friends......

Happy Birthday Madge Lee
I know I may sound a bit cheap, but I can hardly bear spending $5 on a birthday card that will be thrown out the next day.
It's not to say, I don't ever send birthday cards, but I would rather spend my dollars on something more useful AND wish them a happy birthday!
I will be mailing Madge Lee this little Happy Birthday dishtowel instead.
Hope she likes it!

Before and after
Today is officially a month since I have updated my blog???
Has it really been a month? I can't believe I have been gone so long.
Taking care of my father's estate has really been a challenge. Anyone who has ever been the administrator of someone's will, understands the overwhelming amount of time you spend on paperwork, phone calls and trips to the attorneys office.
Not to mention, taking care of his home and personal belongings.
I am hoping to get back into "the swing of things" soon.
In the meantime, I did finish my red and white checked project from my last post - I just hadn't had time to post it until now.
A few of you had guessed I was making something to sit on.
No, you can't sit on it, but....
I am thinking about the comment on the porch swing idea.... How cute would THAT be... a red swing with red and white checked pillows or seat cushions!
Okay, on to my little project....
I am sure we have all seen these before.
Mr. Fisherman thinks they should have PAID ME to take it off their hands, but I thought I could make it into something much cuter.
All it took was a little paint, fabric, bias tape and new shades.
The finished project.....
The picture really doesn't do it justice.
It's shiny and BRIGHT red.
It may not be everyone's "cup of tea" but....
I love it!
