Before and after

Today is officially a month since I have updated my blog???
Has it really been a month? I can't believe I have been gone so long.
Taking care of my father's estate has really been a challenge. Anyone who has ever been the administrator of someone's will, understands the overwhelming amount of time you spend on paperwork, phone calls and trips to the attorneys office.
Not to mention, taking care of his home and personal belongings.
I am hoping to get back into "the swing of things" soon.

In the meantime, I did finish my red and white checked project from my last post - I just hadn't had time to post it until now.
A few of you had guessed I was making something to sit on.
No, you can't sit on it, but....
I am thinking about the comment on the porch swing idea.... How cute would THAT be... a red swing with red and white checked pillows or seat cushions!

Okay, on to my little project....

I am sure we have all seen these before.

I bought mine at a local thrift store for $1.48.
Yep, One dollar and forty eight cents!
Mr. Fisherman thinks they should have PAID ME to take it off their hands, but I thought I could make it into something much cuter.
All it took was a little paint, fabric, bias tape and new shades.

The finished project.....

The picture really doesn't do it justice.
 It's shiny and BRIGHT red.
It may not be everyone's "cup of tea" but....
 I love it!

That chandy came out wonderful. I actually had checked on your blog this morning to see if you had posted. Settling my grandpa's stuff has become a slanderous nightmare. I am very glad he isn't around to see what his family members are capable of.

My word what an amazing job on you did on that light fixture. I am sure your fisherman changed his mind after seeing this. I understand perfectly what you have been through in settling an estate. I have been through so many. After the last, I refuse to be an administrator ever again. Sorry about your loss, but it is something we have to face some time. Take care.

TO LIVE WITHOUT RED

“To live without red is a sin!”
She said, with a rubicund grin.
“A world without red?
I’d rather be dead!
No crimson? It shivers my skin!”

Wow, Lucy...this was soooooo worth the wait. This is stinkin' adorable! Do I dare confess that I have an almost identical light hanging in my dining room (yes, in that beautiful brass finish) as we speak?! It has been on my "to do" list for months, but life (and cookies) keep getting in the way!

You really nailed the "re-do" on this little gem! Great job!

I saw an old chandy that needed LOTS of love in a small shop just last week and I told my friend, "there are bloggy women who LOVE those things" - - - and then I just walked away and left it for someone else to find.

Yours is very cute.
