My $1.09 pillow

Now that I am done sewing baby shower gifts, I am on to decorating for Halloween.
But first, I need a few pillows for my new black and orange decor.
Here's what I came up with after scouring my stash of many things....

I found these placemats I bought months ago on sale for $.25 each - of course I bought 10 of them.

Checked my stash of zippers....

found a $.59 zipper I bought at a local thrift store...

Using a travel size pillow I already had, here's what I came up with....

It took me about 20 minutes and $1.09 to make.
I sewed the zipper in one end, stitched around the other 3 sides, turned it right side out and zipped it up.
Easy as that!

It fit perfectly.

That is pretty stinkin' cute for $1.09!! I love making things out of placemats, isn't it awesome? And I just recently found a great tutorial on how to sew a zippered pillow that made it so easy I could not believe it. This is inspiring me to liven up my decor around here for fall!

I love this idea, so cute and economical. Will have to give it a try one day. In fact, I saw some solid colored placemats like these at our discount store, too bad I will not get as great a deal as you did! :) But, it gives me reason to go back and get them. Just visiting all these great ideas. Have a great weekend.

What a darling project that of course you have executed perfectly! Why I have I never thought of putting a zipper in pillows?! It is the cutest as is, but I can picture a little machine embroidered pumpkin, right in the middle, lol!

Don't you love it when a good. cheap project turns out so well!?
